Drop-off and Pick-up

Registration begins at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday and lasts until 4:00 p.m. If you can not make it by 4:00 p.m please let us know by emailing the office@campwyldewood.org by Friday before the session starts so arrangements can be made. If campers aren’t here by 7:00 p.m. on the first Sunday, please plan to bring them the following morning after 8:00 a.m.

1-week sessions campers can be picked up Thursday night between 5:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. or 9:30 p.m. Most campers will leave on Friday morning between 8:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. 2-week sessions campers can be picked up Wednesday night between 5:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. or 9:30 p.m. Most campers will leave on Thursday morning between 8:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. Campers cannot be checked out between 7:00 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. because of closing ceremonies.

Airplane Arrivals

This must be arranged with the office no later than 1 week prior to the session starting. The cost is $50 for each flight that has a camper on it who needs to be picked up. Multiple campers can share this fee if they are on the same flight. Arrivals must be between 8:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. on Sunday at Little Rock National Airport. Departure should be between 7:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. on the last day of camp.

Visiting Camp

Visitations at camp can cause a distraction for campers and a disruption to the schedule. We ask that you limit your visitations to Sundays 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Parents may visit their children after checking in at the office upon arrival. If no one is in the office, please find a counselor or staff member at the Dining Hall before going to see your camper. Campers MAY NOT leave the camp grounds without parental permission. A parent must sign the camper out at the office before leaving and communicate this with the camper’s counselor.

Camp Standards

Wyldewood seeks to establish an environment that defends the camper’s physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. No abusive language or bullying will be tolerated. Tobacco, matches, lighters, fireworks, radios, CD players, iPods, video cameras, cell phones, or laptop computers are NOT allowed. Restrictions are made on cameras as well and will be covered with campers at camp. Any use of tobacco, drugs, or alcohol will result in the camper being immediately sent home. We are happy to help parents with children who have difficulties; we appreciate parents’ communications with us concerning these needs.

Clothes

Modest clothing is required. The length of shorts must be fingertip length or longer. Shirts must at least have short sleeves. The bottom of the shirt must overlap the top of the pants or shorts. No tank tops of any kind, muscle shirts, or spandex shirts, shorts, or pants. Flip-flops will only be allowed to and from shower houses and swimming pools. To avoid injury, please send your child with a good pair of tennis-shoes for all other times.

Lake Dress Code

The lake dress code will differ from the pool. When campers or counselors are participating in lake front activities they will be required to wear t-shirts and shorts. At the lake the t-shirt (not white) may be sleeveless, but the strap must be at least 1 inch wide and the shirt must be cut close to the arm pit (normal t-shirt cut). Shorts will need to follow the normal shorts rule, closer to the knee than the inseam. We highly recommend that all campers wear some type of shoes while participating in lake front activities, either a water shoe or old tennis shoes.

Cell Phones

Camp is designed to be a place where children can take a break from the distractions of the world and grow closer to Christ. There is also an element of community that is vital to the camp experience, and it involves developing real, face-to-face relationships with other kids from other parts of the country. Having unrestricted access to cell phones deeply undermines the goals that we at Wyldewood are trying to achieve. For this reason, campers are NOT encouraged to bring their phones to camp. We will however create controlled times in which campers will be allowed to have theirs. We see this as a ‘library’ type system with check-in and check-out times.

  • Campers are allowed to bring cell phones to camp, with parental permission, but are not allowed to keep them on their persons or in their cabins.
  • All camper cell phones will be checked in during registration and kept in the office. Campers will be allowed access to their cell phones only during designated times, after which they will be checked back in. Camp is not responsible for any damages to cell phones while they are being used by the campers. Phones brought to camp should come with a full charge and will be powered off when not in use.
  • Campers are not required to bring a phone. If your child does not bring a phone, they will still be able to call home, if they wish, during the designated time using one of our phones.
  • The typical check-out time could last anywhere form an hour to two at time and possibly longer based on the success of this new policy. Check out times won’t occur every day, but campers will have access to them at a much more frequent level than before.
  • Other electronics, such as iPods, iPads, laptops and gaming systems are not allowed under any circumstances. The one exception to this is non-network-connected digital cameras. These will be allowed, but guidelines for their use will be communicated to the campers.
  • Campers cannot share phones. If your child brings a phone, they can only use it themselves. Conversely, if your child doesn’t bring one, they will be allowed to call home at another time. Some parents don’t want their child to have access to a phone or social media without constant supervision. We will ask the campers to respect this and we will not be flexible unless the phone will be shared by family members

Homesickness / Calling Home

Experience has led us to believe that calling home within the first few days of camp tends to make home-sickness worse rather than better. For that reason, and to keep order at camp, campers are not allowed to call home whenever they want to. However, during 11-day sessions, campers are allowed to call home, from the camp office, at a scheduled time during the weekend. In order to give everyone a turn, calls will be limited to five minutes. Not all campers choose to call home. If you would like your child to call home, please tell him/her to take advantage of this time. PLEASE let your camper or counselor know if there is a specific number you would like for your child to call on this day. No call home times are scheduled for 1-week sessions. In cases where home-sickness cannot be overcome, the counselor will call the parent to determine the best course of action. Parents may call the office and request a phone call from the counselor to "check-up" on their child.

Mail

Parents can drop off mail and packages for their children the day of registration. All items need to have the camper’s name and age, along with which day it is to be delivered. Mail sent to us is checked Monday-Friday, so please make sure packages arrive during the week. Mail should be sent to: Camper’s Name c/o Camp Wyldewood P.O. Box 1255 Searcy, AR 72145

Health Forms

Health Forms should be submitted through our on-line system. If you do not know your username and password, please contact the office. If that is not possible, a paper copy should be sent to the office no later than one week before your session beginning. You can either send/bring a copy of the shot records or fill in the dates on the form. Please remit health forms to: Camp Wyldewood P.O. Box 1255 Searcy, AR 72145
